On Set Cinema, a group that has previously made headlines for hosting film screenings at locations where they were filmed, has announced a huge The black Knight screening in Chicago later this year. Scheduled for Saturday, December 10, the screening will take place at the Chicago Architecture Center, filming location of Bruce Wayne’s Penthouse and also the Harvey Dent Fundraiser Party in the film. The event starts at 7 p.m. in December with the movie at 8 p.m. with $50 tickets. You can pick up yours here.
On their official website, they write: “I will show the movie exactly where Joker (Heath Ledger) and his henchmen crash at Harvey Dent’s (Aaron Eckhart) fundraiser party and take on Batman (Christian Bale) in a fight, then Joker pushes Rachel (Maggie Gyllenhaal) out the window!This is one of the most gripping scenes in the entire Dark Knight trilogy.The building where this scene was filmed is located in downtown Chicago on Wacker Dr and has since been transformed into the Chicago Architecture Center. The scene was actually filmed on the first floor of the building – the production used green screens to digitally fill in the Gotham skyline in post-production. There will be free drinks, free popcorn, and a tour of the scene filming location! Fans are encouraged to dress up in costume or fancy dress like in the movie.”
Much of On Set Cinema’s events centered around horror movies and their sequels, with upcoming screenings including Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives at Camp Georgia where it was filmed, Children of the Corn in the Iowa town that replaced Nebraska, The Shining at the National Historic Timberline Lodge (aka the Overlook Hotel from the film), and even the original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre at the family home.
In addition to The Dark Knight, other events they’ve got for the rest of this year include another fan-favorite comic book movie, 1990’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which will premiere in Currie, NC. North, the site of the April O’Neil’s Farm film.
Released in 2008, The black Knight would become the root for many years of how Hollywood would view their comic book adaptations, influencing not only The Amazing Spider-Man reboot by Sony but also plant the seed of the DCEU with Steel man.
