Stephen King’s Latest Film ‘Firestarter’ Debuts Just Under $6 Million in Theaters


The last Stephen King adaptation, directed by Keith Thomas Fire starter blazed into theaters over the weekend, simultaneously available free to Peacock subscribers.

Unsurprisingly, the film’s availability on Peacock reduced opening weekend box office numbers for Fire starterthe scary movie to $3.8 million in domestic theaters.

Here in the United States, the film was released in 3,412 theaters. Global, Fire starter raised $5.8 million over the weekend, including $2 million internationally.

Meagan wrote in her review for BD, “While The Vigil director Keith Thomas gets Fire starter on an energetic and engaging start, this reimagining ultimately fails to ignite.

In Fire starter“A young girl develops pyrokinetic abilities and is abducted by a secret government agency who wants to weaponize her powerful gift.”

Ryan Kiera Armstrong (IT Chapter 2“American Horror Story”) plays Charlie in Stephen King’s new remake, and Sydney lemon will play Charlie’s mother.

Zac Efron (extremely naughty), Michael Greyeyes (quantum of blood), and Gloria Ruben (lincoln“Mr. Robot”) also stars in Fire starter. Efron plays Charlie’s father.

The film also features Kurtwood Smith (Amityville: The Awakening, Hitchcock) and John Beasley (The purge: anarchy, the sum of all fears).

Fire starter has been adapted by the author Scott Teems (Halloween kills, rectify). The new film comes from Universal Pictures, Blumhouse Productions and Weed Road Productions.
