In an Instagram post shared by the theater, they revealed, âThe Staten Island comedian, @nbcsnl star and @thesuicidesquad latest villain #PeteDavidson wants to take you to the movies!
âCome see ‘The Suicide Squad’ at the movie theater in Pete’s hometown #AtriumStadiumCinemas on Saturday, August. 7. Those who want to see the movie for FREE must be at the theaters on Saturday August 7 and declare that they are “Friends of Pete” at the box office.
âTickets cannot be booked in advance or online. Start lining up for 5pm (and don’t forget to take a theatrical selfie and send it to us!) (Sic) â
And James Gunn, the film’s director, also shared the news.
He wrote on Twitter alongside a post on the kind gesture: âA Gift for Residents of Staten Island from Pete Davidson. #TheSuicideSquad (sic) â
Theater owner Gregg Scarola later praised Pete for being a “really cool guy” who wanted to “give back to the community” by offering free screenings.
Speaking to SI Live, he said, âIt was Pete’s whole idea, he reached out to us to tell us he wanted to give back to the community. It is a type of film that must be seen on the big screen. We have our best screens and auditoriums ready to go.
âHe grew up in this community and it means a lot to him to contact us – a local theater – not just a channel. We haven’t talked enough about what he does for the community, he’s a really cool guy.
