These “Newsies” gossip just came out of the press.

Actress Ele Keats says Disney sent her “painfully nasty” reviews of the film after it flopped at the box office.

The starlet, who was 20 when she appeared in the 1992 musical, made the sensational claim in an interview with the insider released Thursday.

“I got this in the mail, like a yearbook of horrible reviews, including some personal attack type reviews,” the actress, now 48, said.

Keats said it was “really hard” to read the “awful” reviews, given that she was an aspiring young actress at the time.

“I think someone in the press department thought I might like to read them [the mean reviews]”said the brunette. “I don’t know why.”

Meanwhile, Keats’ “Newsies” co-star Arvie Lowe Jr. also told Insider that he also received poor reviews from Disney.

He claimed reviews came in the mail weekly and featured reviews claiming the acting was “less good”.

The Post has reached out to Disney to comment on the actors’ allegations.

However, despite initial disappointment, the film has become a cult classic in the 30 years since its release.

The film was adapted into a Broadway play in 2012, and it ran for over two years and won two Tony Awards.

Keats told Insider she thinks the 1992 film was ahead of its time, saying, “If it had been able to come out even eight years later, it would have been a smash hit – 10 or 12 years later, it would have been a resounding success.”

The brunette – who is based in Los Angeles – now mainly works as a jewelry designer, with clients including Diane Keaton, Cameron Diaz and Jessica Biel.

She always acts on the side, having appeared in episodes of “NCIS”, “Cold Case” and “CSI”.
