The 12e edition of Polish Days, the premier industry event of the New Horizons International Film Festival, will once again feature the majority of the most anticipated upcoming titles in the domestic film industry. The Polish Days will take place from July 24 to 26 in Wrocław, during the 22n/a New Horizons (July 21-31). The selection of 22 film projects includes titles at every stage of production, as four completed films, eight works in progress and ten projects in development will be presented.
Starting with the four completed films, award-winning director and cinematographer Jacek Blawut (before dusk [+see also:

film profile]) presents his war drama below the surface, which takes place in a Polish submarine during World War II, somewhere in the North Sea. Meanwhile, Day and night follows two stories of female friendship and witchcraft in the eastern Polish countryside, following a hybrid narrative – the newcomers behind, Katarzyna Machalek and Lukasz Machowskialso directed another feature film earlier this year, the truth-style documentary Boys. In his first feature film, Elephant, Kamil Krawczycki returns to his hometown in southern Poland to tell the romantic story of Bartek, a young farmer who falls in love with Dawid, a musician who visits the village for a funeral. Painter, visual artist and filmmaker Justyna Luczaj-Salej also brings his first feature film, Ponytaila psychological drama about the lack of fulfillment in love.
Among the eight works in progress is the second feature film Doppelgangera suspenseful psychological drama with thriller and spy film elements from Jan Holoubek (25 years of innocence [+see also:

film profile]). The selection is completed by several first feature films: To lose controlan existential thriller Ewa Wikieł; coming of age dramas Norwegian Dream by Leiv Igor Devold and pierce by Nelicia Low; and the drama Ultima Thule by Klaudiusz Chrostowski.
