NCG Cinema at Stone Mountain gets 67 points; Marlow’s Tavern gains 100

ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) — This week at the NCG Theater on Rockbridge Road in Stone Mountain, a failing health inspection is shown.

The cinema obtained 67 points and a “U” for unsatisfactory. The report says there were dead cockroaches found in the cabinets and several live fruit flies and cockroaches crawling around the establishment. The popcorn butter was stored in chemical bottles labeled concession cleaner.

The Gwinnett County Department of Environmental Health shared a photograph taken by the inspector that illustrates the issue.

“Look, I’d like to have the conversation with you, I’m not the one having the conversation with you.” My regional manager is coming today and he will be the one to answer all your questions,” an NCG Cinema employee said.

While waiting for the regional manager to show up, CBS46 was eventually informed that it would not be moving to the theater as it was busy training a new manager to possibly take over the Stone Mountain Cinema.

There were several other good scores around metro Atlanta. In Clayton County, Long John Silvers on Tara Boulevard in Jonesboro had 92 points. In Cobb County, Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar on Sandy Plains Road in Marietta scored 95 points and in DeKalb County, Waikikie Hawaiian BBQ on Briarcliff Road in Atlanta scored 97 points.

And at Marlow’s Tavern on Old Alabama Road in Johns Creek, they received a 100 in their last health inspection. Congratulations, they are this week’s Golden Spatula Award winner. They have been around for almost 20 years and Johns Creek is their original location. So when you walk in you know you are going to have a great atmosphere, first class food and they will even make you a signature cocktail to go with that meal.

You might want to start with their hummus or a salad, they also serve St. Louis ribs, fried macaroni and cheese and jalapeno muffins, a tavern burger with chickpea fries, salmon on a casserole of green beans, shrimp and oatmeal, and you might want to finish it off with a nice honey bourbon bread pudding.
