Kangana Ranaut recently unveiled her first look as former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi in her upcoming film Emergency. The movie is about the state of emergency declared in India between 1975 and 1977. The teaser of the movie was also released by the makers a few days ago and it quickly started trending.
However, the film has now landed in controversy in Madhya Pradesh, according to reports. Congress raised objections to Kangana’s portrayal of Indira Gandhi and also demanded that the film be shown to them before its release. According to reports, Congress believes the film is an attempt to tarnish the former prime minister’s image.

According News18Madhya Pradesh Congress Media Department Deputy Chairman Sangeeta Sharma called Kangana an “agent of the BJP” and said the role was played to tarnish Indira Gandhi’s image at the request of the BJP in power.

Reacting to the controversy, BJP spokesman Rajpal Singh Sisodia told IndiaTimes: “Emergency is a black spot of the country’s democracy and Indira Gandhi was the heroine of it, so they didn’t to worry”.

Recently, Kangana released a BTS video from the filming and shared, “Here is the making of the first look of my director film Emergency, the first look has taken the nation by storm…thanks to my amazing team, every day is a dream come true…I have some of the best people in the world…Go to the emergency team.

Earlier, Kangana clarified that the film is not a biopic but a political drama.

Meanwhile, this is Kangana’s third biopic after playing Rani Laxmibai in Manikarnica and former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalitha in Thalaivi.
