Those who say they have never brought food or drink into a movie theater are either liars or have never been to a movie theater. If the Harris Theater returns to normal operation later this month, you can still buy concessions, but you can also pay BYOB.

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announced Thursday, September 23 that the Harris Theater will reopen to the direct public. Historic Downtown Theater celebrates return to 3-week lineup of new musical Dear Evan Hansen..

Adapted from the hit Broadway musical, Dear Evan Hansen According to a press release, it follows a lonely high school student who longs to “understand and belong to the chaos and cruelty of the social media age.” The film retains the show’s excellent soundtrack on stage and dealing with mental health issues, and has a local connection to director Stephen Choboski. Originally from Pittsburgh, Chbosky is best known for making screen adaptations of his own novels. Charlie’s world, Many of them were filmed in his hometown.

“We look forward to the resurgence of programming at Harris and the exciting patrons renovating the historic space,” said Harris Theater Director Joseph Morrison. “It’s a better way to greet audiences than this movie.”

Like many theaters, Harris went virtual with the Harris Theater @ Home program after it closed last year. Even before the COVID-19 hit, the theater struggled after its governing body, the Pittsburgh Arts Media Center, laid off the film crew and ended programming at the Harris and Regent Square Theater.

Since then, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust has taken over the programming which I look forward to bringing. Dear Evan Hansen At the “Newly Renovated Harris Theater”.
