Four 2020 short films, an alumni short film and an alumni feature film to be screened this weekend at the Carrboro Film Festival

“escaped”, “Kindred Kings”, “Sideways” and “Spread Among Us” will screen at the Carrboro Film Festival from November 19-21. The feature film “Landlocked” and the former short film “Free Order” will also be screened in Carrboro.

“escaped”

“escaped” was written by Rebecca Walters and Brandon Rieff, directed by Rebecca Walters, produced by Brandon Rieff and Julia Lofton Walpole with photography by Rachel Shattle, production design by Shelby Grzech, editing and sound design by Joe Linford, music by Meng Tung Lee, choreography by Gary Taylor and Isabel Newport with costume design by Rachel Nicole Anderson and wig and makeup design by Brittan Furr.

“escaped” will be screened as part of the program “Southern Beings: Narrative Shorts Block” on Saturday, November 20 at 10 am

“Kings of the family”

“Kindred Kings” was co-written and directed by Gray, and co-written / produced by School of Filmmaking student Jo Hatcher, with cinematography and editing by School of Filmmaking student Zachary Smith. Production design is by Romello Huins and Gray, who also provided costume design, makeup for Natosha Martin, and music for School of Design and Production student Nick Parnell. The voices were composed and performed by students of the School of Dramatic Art Deandre Sevon and Mlaj.

“Kindred Kings” will screen in the “Southern Beings: Narrative Shorts Block” on Saturday, November 20 at 10 am

“Next to”

“Sideways” was written by Ben Trauner, directed by Daniel Robert Smith, produced by Thatcher Johnson-Welden, co-produced by Sam Varriale, with a photograph by John Curtis, a graphic design by Jordan W. Sayman, edited by Nikos Spiridakis, a sound design by Micah Godsey and Nikos Sprridakis, with music by Michael Gaffney, costumes by Lizzie Lovett and wig and makeup by Nic See.

“Sideways” will screen in the Southern Laughs: Narrative Shorts block at 2pm on Saturday, November 20.

“Spread among us”

“Spread Among Us” was written and produced by Devin Peluso, directed by Travis Stewart, featuring photography by Jacob Love, production design by Ben Ter Haar, editing and sound design by Zachary Smith, music by Calvin Evans, Jr., costume design by Sarah Sims, and wig and makeup design by Ben Psimer.

“Spread Among Us” will screen in Southern Suspense: Free Screening at 9pm on Saturday, November 20.

“Free order”

“Free Order” was written, directed, produced and edited by former student Brian Sheehan (BFA Filmmaking ’19) and recently won the Audience Choice Award at Beyond: The Cary Film Festival.

“Free Order” will screen in the Southern Laughs: Narrative Shorts block at 2pm on Saturday, November 20.

Enclave

“Landlocked” was written by Jonathan Foster (BFA Filmmaking ’03) and Tim Hall (BFA Filmmaking ’11), from a story by Hall, directed by Hall, produced by Leslie Hall, Tim Hall, Daniel Hansen (BFA Filmmaking ’11), Alexander Sablow (BFA Filmmaking ’09), with a photograph of Sablow, edited by Daniel Hansen and Kevin Tadge (BFA Filmmaking ’09), music by Son of Cloud, costume design by Karen Freed, with Dustin Gooch (BFA Filmmaking ’09) in the cast. Purvis Jordan (BFA Filmmaking ’09) was executive producer and Tiffany Luard (BFA Filmmaking ’08) was associate producer.

“Landlocked is the Saturday night screening at 7pm on Saturday November 20th.
