A day after Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar succumbed to a heart attack while training at the gym, many celebrities from the film industry flocked to Bengaluru to pay their final tribute to the actor. Among those attending the Kantheerava Stadium, where Puneeth’s body has been kept for public display, were actor, choreographer and director Prabhudheva; Rana Daggubati; and Balakrishna. Karnataka Governor Thawarchand Gehlot and Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai also attended the solemn occasion.
Although fans and fans of the late actor were shocked by the news of the untimely death, the celebrities at the public screening did not appear to be holding back their emotions. While Balakrishna and Rana were seen crying, Prabhudheva was seen working hard to control his emotions.
The late actor’s last rites will be performed at Kantheerava Studio, where Puneeth’s parents were also buried, once his daughter Vandita arrives from the United States on a special government-chartered flight.
The town of Bengaluru, where the actor lived, has been on high alert since news of the actor, affectionately named Appu and Powerstar, became public. The government of Karnataka has also declared two days of public mourning.
