The highly anticipated Liger was released last week with Vijay Deverakonda playing the lead role of an MMA fighter. Karan Johar-supported film Puri Jagannadh is trending flat at the box office. The film earned around Rs 4.10 to Rs 4.50 crore on Saturday, Bollywood Hungama reported. The actor won a similar amount on day 2, after earning Rs 1.25 crore on paid previews. His total collection now stands at Rs 10.25 crore, according to Bollywood Hungama.
The lukewarm reviews and negativity surrounding the film are believed to be the reason for its poor collection. Additionally, with an India-Pakistan match scheduled for Sunday, experts believe weekend numbers will be low for the film. The Hindi version of Vijay Deverakonda’s film is expected to make a lifetime business of around Rs 25 crore.
On Friday, Dharma Productions shared that by Liger the worldwide collection on its opening day stands at Rs 33.12 crore.

Liger is said to be doing much better business in UP, Bihar and some other mass belts, while multiplex attendance remains low. However, despite negative word of mouth, the film’s three-day figure is much better than recently released films.
Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta found Liger to be a “cringe”. In her review, she wrote, “There is nothing new or fresh about the ingredients that go into making this Vijay Deverakonda film. The plot is filled with all sorts of wacky situations and the treatment is jaded.
Apart from Vijay Deverakonda, Liger also stars Ananya Panday, Ramya Krishna and Ronit Roy in key roles. Legendary boxer Mike Tyson has a long cameo in the film. The Dharma Productions-Puri Connects production had been in the works for three years and suffered numerous delays due to the pandemic.
