Spider-Man: No Path Home writer and director Jon Watts write, direct and produce a thriller starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, according to Hollywood journalist. According to THR, nearly a dozen studios including Apple, Netflix, Lionsgate, Amazon, Universal and Sony, among others, are all vying for the film.
While Watts will write, direct, and produce the project, it looks like Clooney and Pitt will be producing as well. Clooney will do it under Smokehouse Pictures, while Pitt will do it under his Plan B Entertainment. Not much is known about the film – including its title – other than that the film will follow two solo fixers assigned to the same job.
Clooney and Pitt have worked together on five films over the years, first in 2001 Eleven from the ocean, followed by the years 2002 Confessions of a dangerous mind (which was directed by Clooney), 2004’s The Twelve of the Ocean, 2007 Ocean’s Thirteen, and more recently, in 2008 Burn after reading.
Watts becomes an increasingly reliable writer and director over the years, with 2017 Spider-Man: Homecoming and 2019 Spider-Man: Far From Home, not to mention the highly anticipated third installment of the film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, coming to theaters later this year. In addition to Spider Man franchise, Watts also has Marvel’s The Fantastic Four film currently in development. But it looks like Watts is set to pull off his first major blockbuster outside of Marvel.
Watts / Clooney / Pitt’s next film doesn’t have a release date yet, but it will certainly be a massive project to watch in the years to come.
