Barack Obama was a great president, but he’s not a movie critic and frankly not very loyal where he should be.
Obama released his own list of the best films of 2021 on Thursday. Huge omissions: Jennifer Hudson as Aretha Franklin in “Respect” and Will Smith as Richard Williams in “King Richard”. Not very faithful either since Aretha sang at the 2009 Inauguration. And Hudson is from Chicago. And the Obamas love Serena and Venus. Weird.
If Obama likes to think of himself as influencing audiences, he’s left out two important black films and their stars – frankly the two black actors who have the best hope of getting an Oscar this year.
Obama also left âBelfast,â one of the best movies of 2021. And he included âJudas and the Dark Messiah,â which was technically in the field last year.
Also: “The last duel”? “Come on”? Let’s go!
Strange list. Mr. Obama, stick to politics please.
Next are my favorite movies of the year. Each of these movies tells a powerful story, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. pic.twitter.com/peFGiaTvby
